Mine arrived today, just curious what measurements is yours? Mine is just a hair under 5"x1" and I'm currently baking it to remove it from the box to get the thickness... someone used some white glue/epoxy to hold the stone in.

Thanked: 3215Escher is/was a brand name. Some folks say, The Celebrated German Water Hone, (TCGWH) were marketed by Escher…
Escher hones are fine honing stones, that some say were hand selected and tested. Escher labeled Thuringians are “Eschers”,
There are tons of unlabeled Thuringians floating around that are Eschers (missing labels) and many more unlabeled Thuringians capable of producing an edge equal to a labeled Escher. And there are other vintage brand Thuringians, that can produce an edge equal to a labeled Escher, and probably came from the same mine.
Labeled / Unlabeled, does not matter, if the stone can deliver a smoking edge.
Now, if you are selling the stone, only a “Labeled Escher” stone will command an Escher price.
There is much written about Escher, but those that knew the whole, true story first hand are all gone. In the day, many of the stone dealers, distributors and razor manufacturers had their fingers in many pies and some like the Case family were involved in multiple companies through marriage.
This is a 6-year old thread, but there has always been mystery about Escher stones, because of their ability to produce consistent quality edges and ability to commanded higher prices. A lot if it was just marketing. So is Starbucks coffee really that much, “better” than 7/11 or the local Doughnut shop coffee?

Thanked: 2209I have liked the Thuri's for a number of years. It does not matter if they are green, gray or blue, soft or hard. They all produce an edge that agrees with my face.
