Thread: Looking for info on a speckled Coti

Here is mine & I love it. for now it has replaced my Shapton 16 as my go to finisher. I also have a 1 inch coticule slurry stone to go with it.

thanks Hirlau! Any thoughts on it's cutting speed?

That looks nice, and nice score on the 5 x 1 I think I missed a couple of those this week because I ran out of funds, well I already have one, AND don't you have one already also!??! lol

yeah I have one that is part of a four sided strop, but I think it may remain a display piece. Only because I don't want to get water or slurry all over the adjacent leather. So this little one is now my primary cotIcule. Although I could still use a larger one, and a natural combo, and maybe some bouts...

I feel you, I have 1 coticule I just started using and the smoothness from it is amazing I didn't think I could get an edge so smooth with my meager honing skills. I have 2 more coticules on the way, I'm going to try them all and maybe I'll sell off 1 of them and keep the 2 I like more. Next I'm going to lap the thuringian and see how that feels.

I now have 3 Coticule stones, each and every one of them behaves differently. 1 i have just lapped off and is a fairly quick cutter, makes its owns slurry and you can see a swarf build right away, 1 I have yet to get lapped, the last is a very slow cutter and can produce a really nice polish.

I've never seen one with that speckled and bright quality of the pink bits. IME pink in a coticule makes for a fast cutter. Cool looking stone.

I don't really know a lot about speeds on a stone, only 2 years into this honing experience. I have finished about 6 razors on it now. Coming from an 8k, I get a beautiful shave at about 35 strokes. I have touched up 2 razors with 10 to 12 strokes, to get back in the game.

Compared to my PHIG, it's like the Concorde was from New York to London.
