I will propose to any reasonable mind that shave ready is not the same as SHAVE TESTED.
I know there are experts and gurus that know when a blade is ready but unless it is actually shave tested the full range of the razor's capabilities will not be known.
There are too many people selling shave ready razors that they actually never tested!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I propose before anyone actually sells another razor it must be actually SHAVE tESTED
The two terms are mutually exclusive. Shave ready means exactly what it says. It is ready to give a proper shave. The means of how it got to that state are immaterial. Actually shave tested is just a term. It may be shave tested on some guy with peachfuzz and shave great and then you get it with a wire beard and it doesn't shave at all. yet the seller can say shave tested which means what?

Maybe it is just your perspective ? I would say you are learning that there is no standard or certification or license required to sell razors or hone them. It all boils down to your communication with the person doing the honing, shaving, testing and selling. Then there is the understanding and trust factor. If you want guaranties , ask for them . If you don't get one move on. :<0)

Shave ready means the blade will shave well. Shave-tested means it has been tested for sharpness by shaving. It doesn't mean it passed the shave test or how well it shaved. It is an easy matter to test shave a dull razor, so that razor would have been shave-tested but not be shave ready. Even worse, a razor that has been shave-tested and shaved well may no longer be shave ready because it was not properly stropped and put into the condition it was before the shave test. I'd take shave ready over shave-tested every time.
Call it waht you will, the only thing that matters if the razor shaves you and does so comfortably.
Someone elses shave ready/shave tested could be your sub optimal shave.
Shave tested, is an evaluation of the razor condition, while shave ready is its condition.
IMHO shave ready is just that, it's ready to shave. Shave tested just backs up that it's capable of shaving it doesn't account for your skills in honing just your word. But of course as you all say it's a matter of opinion. I've bought razors off the classifieds here that were "shave ready", and when I went ot use it, it was not IMO. A light touch up and it was ready to go. No biggie, but to some w/o hones it is.
You don't know if a razor is shave ready until you shave test it..but shave testing it does not mean the razor is shave ready. You can shave test a razor till the cows come home but if it's not shave ready then you're just running metal over your face...make sense? In the end, you have to know what both terms actually mean and better yet how they feel on your face.

Absolutely, there are so many who claim to have a shave ready razor so I was looking for a phrase that conveyed better that it was shave ready and had been ready to go

If quotes aren't your friends, you should probably get yourselves acquainted.
Also, while I certainly see where you're coming from, 'shave tested' was probably a poor choice of term because, as many have said, just because it's been tested doesn't mean it's in shave ready condition and you're back at square one.

I'm sorry if anything I said offended you or anyone else. I consider myself new here and try to act accordingly (with a little snarkiness tossed because I'm a happy guy that likes to joke around). In my short tenure here I have met some really fantastic people that joke similarly and we seem to "get" one another.
Perhaps your suggestion for new terminology is solid, I just think the common 'shave ready' terminology works fine and seems ubiquitous (and my limited searching reveals that it has worked quite well for a long time...but as I said, I'm new here so I won't attempt to alter the status quo;))
