Thanked: 2shave ready versus shave tested
I will propose to any reasonable mind that shave ready is not the same as SHAVE TESTED.
I know there are experts and gurus that know when a blade is ready but unless it is actually shave tested the full range of the razor's capabilities will not be known.
There are too many people selling shave ready razors that they actually never tested!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I propose before anyone actually sells another razor it must be actually SHAVE tESTED

The two terms are mutually exclusive. Shave ready means exactly what it says. It is ready to give a proper shave. The means of how it got to that state are immaterial. Actually shave tested is just a term. It may be shave tested on some guy with peachfuzz and shave great and then you get it with a wire beard and it doesn't shave at all. yet the seller can say shave tested which means what?

Thanked: 1184Maybe it is just your perspective ? I would say you are learning that there is no standard or certification or license required to sell razors or hone them. It all boils down to your communication with the person doing the honing, shaving, testing and selling. Then there is the understanding and trust factor. If you want guaranties , ask for them . If you don't get one move on. :<0)
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Thanked: 247I think this is as silly as Jeeps concept of "Trail Rated".
Rated what? Unsuitable?
Shave tested? I just shave tested my iPhone...it failed. It darn sure is not *shave ready*!
Hey, no offense, but scheisters will use whatever terminology you like to extract your money from your wallet. In the end it's all about good people doing good business. Price should always be secondary to reputation.Last edited by unit; 05-20-2013 at 05:55 PM.

For a small fee I can send you a testimonial saying razors you hone are shave ready. For a big fee I will send you an official certification so everyone will know any razor you hone is absolutely shave ready and you are a world class Honemeister. For a little more I'll include a badge. You want silver, gold or platinum.
No wise guys better say "we don't need no stinkin badges".No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Shave ready means the blade will shave well. Shave-tested means it has been tested for sharpness by shaving. It doesn't mean it passed the shave test or how well it shaved. It is an easy matter to test shave a dull razor, so that razor would have been shave-tested but not be shave ready. Even worse, a razor that has been shave-tested and shaved well may no longer be shave ready because it was not properly stropped and put into the condition it was before the shave test. I'd take shave ready over shave-tested every time.
