    Default The Celebrated German Water Hone

    I mentioned in a post as response of a question that Escher never stated the color of their hones on the main label.
    Well - obviously this was a wrong statement.

    You see in the pictures a very old hone were Escher print color, a certain number and size of the hone on the main label.

    Also this is again one example of an Escher hone that is not mentioned as a special razor hone. The label says “… for sharpening fine knifes and tools”, but the hone is a very good quality blue-green Escher hone, not coarser or of less quality than every other blue green Escher I have in my collection.

    I know how it feels. I was for years trying to find out if there was purple YL. At the end I have found one genuine and boxed. At least we have still hope to find all those mystery hones and their variations.
