Yes sir I know that. I had an old wostenholm 5/8 I honed 4 x. The first three times, the shave was harsh. The fourth trip to the hone I stopped at the 8k norton and crox and linen. And it shaved great. I used the 1 micron film the first three hones, might be too fine for old sheffield steel. Anyway it shaves well now. Ive used film for quite a few older solingens and sheffields. This one may be tempered softer.
