Default Trying to get new Dovo into shave ready condition...

I did a honing pyramid on Norton 4k and 8k starting at 20 laps with light pressure as described in the wiki. I finished with about 25 laps on a 12k and then stropped lightly 10 strokes on synthetic canvas treated with CrO then stropped on leather for 50-60 strokes. I cannot for the life of me get a perfect HHT. Hairs catch and snap off but I can't get to the point where they just fall away. Tried shaving and it was very bad. Here are some pics at 40x... Please help!

It almost appears as though the bevel isn't set yet...not meeting completely at the edge leaving it rounded. Drop down to the 4k again and do some more work...or if you have a 1k start there.

As much as it takes to get the bevel to meet and pop arm hairs above skin level

Try doing 20-30 sets of circles on each side, then do 20 x-strokes on each side...that's a start.

Here's a pic after some work on the 1k - blade is no where near sharp enough to cut hairs midway - how to proceed?

    TIA

It looks like you're getting there...keep going if it's not cutting hair yet. Try finishing with some nice light (weight of the blade) strokes and see if that helps.

Don't mean to butt in here but it should pop hairs at skin level not mid way on the hair at the 1K level and that could make a difference.

So I did a pyramid starting at 25 laps on the 4k/8k. The pic is below. Still doesn't pop hairs mid way but shaves leg hair pretty well - what to do?

If it's cutting leg hairs then try and move on to the polishing stage with the 12k. The hair tests can vary depending on a persons hair...for myself, when I hone, I judge by the blade popping hairs above the skin on my arm...but thats just me.
