Default Razor angle on the hone?

What angle or how much do I lay the razor down on the hone? Ive checked out this link: http://www.classicshaving.com/articl...90351/4057.htm

and Ive also read "The Art of Classic Shaving" but it doesnt explain about how much to lay down or what angle I use the razor on the hone, stroping is no problem for me just the hone :\

    Thanks in advance!

Except for *very* rare cases, the razor lays flat on the hone - the reason the spine is so thick is because it sets the honing angle. You can hold the razor at an angle across the hone if you wish, some guys keep it perpendicular to the line of motion, some hold it with the heel leading about 30 degrees.

mparker speeks true. Be sure to strive for evenness along the edge and from one side to the next.

Same applies to stropping, but since the blades are usually ground hollow only the spine and edge actually come in contact with the hone or strop.

Yes to both. Actually the only razors where the hone scrapes the whole side of the blade are the straight wedges, which have no hollowing. They can take a fair amount of patience to hone...
