Default Any honemeisters in New Mexico?

I'm looking to learn honing and, like an idiot, I decided that my first attempt at honing would be an old W&B Barber's Rattler. I'm either totally incompetent or it has some seriously uneven wear. I would love to get this thing shaving sharp, but I can't even get a bevel set. I'm hoping that maybe there's someone local who could help me figure out what I'm doing wrong. I guess I could always send my razor to someone to have it sharpened, but I don't feel like I would learn anything that way.

That may not be the best 1 to learn on. Send it out if you use it and find some e-bay scrap to learn on. :<0) I do hope you find someone close to help you learn and if you do great, forget my other advice.
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

    Not many just a few.

True honemeisters? I'm not aware of any.

I am sorry... I am in ABQ! But i am not a pro at honing by any means... I am good enough to restore and make my razors shave ready for personal use...but i can always give you my humble opinion on anything... For what is worth!!!

If any of you guys in New Mexico are interested, there is usually a meetup in Denver sometime in July. Glen (gssixgun) comes down and shares his knowledge with us. Great way to learn a whole lot very quickly.
