Well I tried honing today for the first time. I must saw I am pleasantly surprised with my results although I see some room for improvement. It took forever it seems to smooth out my naniwa 3/8 stone (specifically the 8 side) but I got her down and away I went. Not sure I had perfect technique but I got some strokes going... thinking back I likely didn't need to do the 3k since the thing was just a little dull from having shaved.

Also I kinda forgot to strop since I was so excited to see if I screwed up my blade or not. I have to say even without any stropping it came out kinda nice, could have been smoother but I'm looking forward to getting some stropping done and trying it again. So excited though I sort of threw away my whole shaving routine.

No real questions today I was just excited to share. Thanks Lynn and Gssixgun for your helpful tutorials. I'm looking forward to some personal instruction someday by Razor Phil at classic edge but very stoked I have started getting into honing. I waited about a year and a half before I got into honing and I'm glad I did. I can't thank the users on this site enough for their helpful advice going through and learning this very cool skill.

Cheers!
