    Default Honing

I have tried to hone my razor and it's not shave ready anymore. I have a Dovo Black Star razor and my sharpening stone is a Col. Conk. I have watched a lot of videos on Youtube to figure out how to hone. I am keeping my razor flat against the stone as well. Some advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

I don't have a Colonel Conk hone myself, but read that people could not get their razors shave-ready on those. You may want to consider replacing it with a Norton 4000/8000 or similar synthetic hone, while it is more expensive, it is also easier to use and well-tested.

When I first got into straight razors I purchased that hone to maintain my razor..or so the shop keeper told me it would. That was before I found SRP and did some reading only to find that it's actually in the 800-1k range and won't feel very nice on your face. I then got myself a Norton 4/8k combo stone and used the Conk for setting the bevels.
