Yes HAL....
I remember reading a piece of trivia about HAL, to totally hi-jack the thread...when Kubrick approached the computer company about using their name, they balked and refused...didn't want their name associated with a whacked out computer...so Kubrick just brought the letter back one in the alphabet.
IBM became HAL...

Hal must be the reason I hate talking computers.
