    Scratch patterns need to be extending to the edge completely without any variation. The visual still has to be verified IMO with thumbnail test, and or armhair test. There are other ways as well. Ive even stropped and made a pass on the cheek. After some time you will get better at seeing it and testing as well as the feel of the hone.
