Thanked: 485I sort of think I could. I remember Maxi telling me that the Shapton was aggressive and thinking "Just a sec, it's 16k! How can it be aggressive when it's so fine!" He patiently explained it to me and with experience (trial and error) I understood what he meant.
I seriously think that unless people are stropping like insane psychos, and otherwise treating their razors like shit, 20 laps on the Shapton 16k may (in my experience) bring the edge back quite well.
Of course, if not (if it doesn't work) one should venture to a courser grit (and more homework), but one doesn't need to dive straight in to pyramids and such, esp if one has only one or two razors...
Your mileage and currency rate and taste etc may vary, of course...Goes without saying...Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

Thanks I've got my Shaptons for just a few months and have been experimenting a lot with them. I am finally getting great 8K shaves and will see what the 16K really does to those edges.
