Thanked: 3Razor Getting Dull Towards Heel What To Do
Not sure where to post this. But this is where I spend most my time.
I have a TI razor that I've been using for about two weeks. It was sharp initially (sharpened by Lynn).I strop daily 30 linen 70 leather.
The bottom 1/4 of the blade toward the heel has gotten dull to the point where it will not cut hair. The rest of the blade is still very sharp.
Two Questions.
1) Is the most likely cause my stropping technique?
2) To fix this would you reset the bevel or try a different approach first. I'm thinking since the bottom 1/4 of the won't even cut hair to reset the bevel?
3) Also do I even care as the heel gets very little use from me? (sorry I only said two questions )
Thank You
Guy

I would advise you to get it honed again by Lynn, as you get the second honing for free
1) Stropping can be the cause, but that is very hard for me to determine unless I would be standing next to you and watch you strop.
2) I would get it honed by Lynn again, but if you insist on honing it yourself, yes, I would take it back to bevel setting. I find it easier to hone the entire edge than just a part of it.
3) Yes, you do, otherwise you wouldn't post the question As for me, I want to be able to use the entire edge, just in case I need to. I make small variations between shaves, sometimes using the entire edge, sometimes I don't.I want a lather whip
