So my question is, does it need to hit a hone, or would some abrasive paste be a good start?

If I should start with pastes, where should I start? Balsa hone with crox? Cloth with diamond? If diamonds, what grit size?

Or is there some option I'm not thinking of?
Darth being a daily head shaver my blade also needs a refresh every week or so. I use Crox on the backside of my linen strop when the blade begins to tug (5 -7 strokes) wipe blade clean then strop as normal. This seems to refresh my edge without the need to hone. I also have a 12k naniwa that I run the blades on every month (no more than 10 passes) this really brings the edge back to life. Hope this helps
