Frustrations
I dropped a razor and got a chip in it, so redid the bevel to get the chip out. To get a good edge on it I am having to apply firm pressure while doing an X stroke. Before I could just let the weight of the blade do the work. Did I screw something up? I am using shapton glass stones.

Thanked: 13245Most of us use Circles to pull out chips, and yes that forbidden word "Pressure" or more accurately "Torque" X strokes work just fine also ...
You have to realize that honing is one aspect, and restoring an edge so it can be honed it another, Pressure, and Gymnastics are often used to restore an edge to the point where it can again be honed normally..
I hope that makes sense

Touching up blades is a lot of fun. Creating bevels on chipped edges or totally restarting edges is sheer drudgery. I have spent as much as an hour on 220 and 1K and dread doing it. I have a Wostenholm that needs serious work. I love the razor but the drudgery involved has caused me to put it off for over a year.
I feel your pain. It isn't any fun at all.

Ok, so I took a nap, since I am still suffering from a head cold, which does not help. I think I am getting somewhere now. It looks like a nice flat edge, TPT is nice and TNT is nice. Of course, that is all nothing until the moment but I feel a little better now.

Well I have the same cold and would not even think of honing right now. Laying in bed with my iPad and am happy I can just breath. Coughing and making an X-Stroke don't go together when honing. I'm sure you'll be able to correct the blade.
Ugh I need to go take more drugs ....
