Thanked: 3228If you check and see what others on this forum and other shaving forums are using you can pretty well be sure anything not in regular use is not suitable. There is a good reason certain things seem to be in standard use, they are proven to work. It is a good thing you asked and you did get good advice not to bother. Keep to the tried and true.

I have to say I am curious what the edge would look like after going through one of those sharpeners..just for giggles. um, I mean for the sake of further advancing the art of honing.

Hi, I just did a quick search fir "chefs choice" In the search box (top right of page), I got 5 pages of results, admittedly not all will be about sharpeners, one post mentioned a chef's choice kettle. I am pretty sure a search for edge pro would come up with a lot of results.
Sharpening systems don't seem to be recommended, in fact pretty much the polar opposite by experienced honers. I would say you have made a good choice to not go down that route.Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

I have seen Barbers hones in real nice shape go for cheap on eBay, picked up 3 myself.
Spyderco sticks worked well, before I got my Barbers hones.
