Lol! I hear ya there. Actually just to clarify my burr creation was a last ditch effort after attempting to set a new bevel twice 'normally'. In all cases I've been able to bring the edge back to the same state. It is a real shame because I think this blade would be an exceptional cutter. If I shave test, anywhere on the blade is smoooooth but that tip brings tears to my eyes.

I believe the blade may have been restored at one point or it was well cared for. It was oiled when I found it. I did some polishing but I didn't have to go to a dremel or any business like that. My philosophy on honing or sharpening anything is to start as delicately as possible. I started with stropping and worked my way backward when it became evident that portion of the blade wasn't taking an edge. I think I'm stricken with OCD when it comes to these things. It's driving me nuts but it isn't like a have a bunch of other razors to use. Lol!!

Thanks again!!

Here is the thing and I want to tread carefully here,,

There are many "Novices" reading this and other forums, and the info on how many of us restore razors is there in black and white for the reading, much like a repair manual for your vehicle..
Much like many people should not be playing with wrenches and screwdrivers under a hood, there are people that should not be playing with spinning wheels and razors.
It takes a simple mistake to fry a CPU on a car and a seconds worth of inattention with a Dremel to fry the temper on the edge..

I do not know if that is the problem, reading your post I would lean toward the burr being the issue as basically you killed not only the edge but also the steel behind the burr but if that was after the initial problem perhaps it was the steel..

Diagnosis by way of the internet is iffy at best
