Thread: Wedge advice

Looks like the bevel is wider in the center in the pic on the left. Try to get the bevel to be even al the way down the edge - you may need to put some roll into your stroke to get the heel and tip of the edge...

Keep at it - you CAN do it!

I think i got it. i put two pieces of tape on it and spent an hour on it. it is cutting the hairs on my arm. i will test in it in the am. thank you all for your input.

I'm honing out the biggest smiling wedge i've ever seen now. This is the second night. Had to drop back to DMT to make some progress. About 3mm wear on the spine, 8/8 or better originally, middle of the smile honed a little flat and the edge was rough.

I'm working the grin back onto her. Lots of marker and checking. Triple-taped, 4 when on DMT. Got rid of 90% of the nicks with spine-lifted honing (pocket knifing). All are gone now.

Not going to rush it, caint rush it! too much metal!

I'm going for a moderately even bevel heel to toe. Just enough to get a fully set bevel and get 'er to shaving. I can tweak on it (perfecting the bevel) later if I choose to. Much different "pushing" a spot of bevel on a fat blade than those wispy hollow grinds.

Shaved with it this am. I used TOBS sandalwood soap and aftershave gel. It was a smooth shave. Now I need to work on the scales. They are loose. I want to keep the original scales because that is what drew me to the blade in the first place.
