Default Srd honing? Converting finished edges

Question 1: what does srd use for honing the razors they sell and do they use tape? Do the prestrop?

    Question2
U have about 30 razors that were honed on lapping film and wanting a coticule or jnat edge on them should I continue killing the edge then going back to bevel set or just refinish them on the natural stones...

I certainly don't speak for SRD, but you will probably find that most honemeisters have a variety of stones, and select the one or ones that are appropriate to a particular razor. There is no one size fits all answer to the which hone to use questions.

EDIT: forgot to add that if you have questions about SRD, shoot them an email or give them a call. They have excellent service and are willing to answer customers' questions.

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

I do the same but it doesn't answer the question ...

Not sure about what stones, but I had a razor honed by SRD and I asked for no tape to be used and no tape was used. If you want your razor honed with or without tape I think all you have to do is ask. The costumer service is excellent.

I'm talking about the razors purchased on the site... I think I'll shoot them an email

From the handful of times I've gotten to hone with Lynn at Missouri meets, and the method I now use instead of the pyramid progression: Heavy (a good amount of down pressure) circles on a 1k Chosera (I do as many as I feel it takes). Then, heavy X-strokes on the 1k Chosera. Heavy circles on Norton 4k (I can't remember if he does heavy X strokes after, but I go to no pressure X strokes after my 4k circles), then no pressure X strokes on the 8k Norton, then finishing progression (seems to change for him every time I am there!). I KNOW there are videos floating around out there of him honing, from either the Mid-MO meeting at his place or last years winter get-together at my place, but I cannot for the life of me find them. I will continue searching and edit my post if I come up with anything.

But what he does at the meet ups might not be what he does for his clients... Not really concerned about their honing technique ... I think I'm going to kill the edge and redo it

This would be a good idea. Otherwise it looks like you are trolling here.
