    Default How to sharpen razor?

Have a question about honing a razor. I have included pictures.
I have been setting a bevel on this razor. Most of it looks OK. The picture with the blade facing right, at the heel facing there is about 0.5" or so that is not reached. There is also a bit of warp on that side. What would be the best way to finish honing this razor.

    Thanks for help

If I understand correctly what you're asking about is the toe of the razor? I think from what I can see you want to use a rolling X-stroke should get that last bit of the toe

okay, I read your post again, you're talking about the heel? try circles focusing on the heel, then maybe go to the what I was saying above. Or you could probably do a combination of both.
a circle on the heel, then go right into a rolling X

Maybe using the "macro" setting on your pic taking device (PTD) would help?

    would help us see.

I took a couple more pictures. Sorry if they are not good. I haven't got the hang of this thing yet.

That looks a rather tight curve you have on the blade.
Make a large chamfer on one side of your stone and work the toe on it with circles first and then X strokes.
Alternatively work on the side of the stone after having lapped it.

A black sharpie might help you figure out what is effective, it will make it easy to see what you're doing. Just mark the edge. Your bevel appears to be even to me on both except for the 1:23 pic, it looks like that's where your coming up short, is this the side that's in question? Still hard to tell...

It's the picture 1:20. there is also more of a curve on that side. It seems harder for me to hit the heel so I need to figure out the stroke to work for it. It may also need more work.

okay, I still say a black sharpie on the edge, and circles with pressure directly over that spot, if the sharpie mark wears away, your getting it.
