    Default Hone in the 303

    Hello,

Just this past week I discovered someone willing to travel around the Denver Metro area and hone straight razors and/or other sharp tools. I am having him work on an old Anchor Brand of mine this weekend and will update with his skill level and my satisfaction level if anyone is interested. He quoted me about $25 which if I don't have to travel or ship my razor would be a good price point.

Be leery of people who sharpen other tools as well as straight razors. Ask him what he uses to do the sharpening. If it is anything with a motor, run away. Ask him if he shaves with a straight. If he does not, then you should either avoid him altogether or test him out with your least favorite razor.

Will do. He has said that he sharpens for some of the more high end barber shops around the area. I got his name from The Art of Shaving here in Denver so hopefully he will do a good job. If not, then I am only out the Anchor Brand that I bought at a local antique shop.

This bears repeating for all future generations of shavers ever anywhere

or have him bring a razor he honed for you to test on your face...uh huh. I simply cannot fathom how anyone who doesn't put the steel to own his face can begin to comprehend the finesse and polish our edges must have, which is why I'd never ever let a non-shaver put my razors to a rock or strop.

Sounds like he comes with good references, but you never k_n_o_w until you find out.

    best of luck

Here is last years Mile High meet up thread, there are quite a few guys in the area, many can hone...

At least touch base with a few of them and see if they know this guy BEFORE he hones your razor

Send a few of them a PM see if they can't get you pointed in the right direction and perhaps this "guy" is one of them
