    Default Honing question.

Hey guys, I'm new here but I'm excited that i can hopefully learn from the best in straight razor shaving. I am currently (and painfully) learning to hone my razors. What is happening is when I hone them there is metal particles sticking to the stone (Naniwa ss 1000 grit) the weird thing that is happening is that it is only on the right side of the stone. Am i doing something wrong or is there a problem with my equipment or am I just paranoid. I apologize for my terrible grammar and bad explanation. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Are you hitting the shoulder on the edge of the hone?

I'm not hitting the shoulder, plus its not right along the edge. I'd say it a 3/4 inch in from the edge.

hmmm.........when you lay the blade on the hone is it flat? Are you using electrical tape on the spine?

pretty sure the Naniwa SS doesn't require soak time, not that it would hurt it. More of a spray and go hone
