Question on SRD honing service
Just a quick question on SRD honing service: Has anyone here used the free honing service when they purchased a new razor from SRD and, what is the normal turn-around for this service?
Thanks in advance,
Frank

I have used the the offering a few times. The turn around is dictated by how busy it is. You would have to contact the honemeister. I can tell you this though, it is well worth doing it.

I've not used the free honing service but I have had several razors honed by Lynn. It would really depend how quick he would get it. It usually took me a couple of weeks from the time I sent it until I got it back. now you have to take in the day you send it. week ends and holydays would slow it down. The thing is I don't believe it would matter if it was a free honing or one you ordered through SRD. I believe he would take it in order of when it arrived. I guess that's why most of us (and here i'm only guessing) keep more than one razor. I do know that for me the wait was well worth it.

Thanked: 3795The best way to find out about SRD's honing turnaround time would be to ask SRD.

Received my answer and my razor today. So, for those wondering like I did, I sent my razor off to SRD service on 2/17/14 and received it back today on 3/5/14 in perfect condition of course. The ding in the blade was repaired to perfection and the razor was of course, shave ready.
Thanks SRD.

For a noob like me with only one razor at that time, I tended to care about how long it took. And like I said, now I know what the turn around is and more importantly, others have an idea of the time it takes as well.
That's the beauty of public forums, information is shared about experiences in customer service. And as others have said, SRD is tops.

Yep. Been there already! Once I "dinged" the Aust, I bought a TI so I would keep on track with my straight razor shaving studies. And, it all went down the rabbit hole after that. I have two vintage straights coming today and I have a Norton 1K and a set of Naniwa stones already lapped and on the bench ready to go.
Oh, and then there is that barber stone I bought ......... You get the picture

SWMBO cured me of RAD. But not before I had amassed about 40 razors... I honed them all to perfection - now what do I do?
