    Default Old barber hone descriptions

    I've been perusing the razor hones on Ebay and have noticed that many of the hones that come with instructions or descriptions from the manufacturer say something like "manufactured on scientific principles".

    Why was this such a selling point during those days? Does anyone know what "scientific principles" they used were?

    Science that actually worked was new and exciting. Brave New World and all that.

    I'm not sure, but I think that they might be referring to a basic scientific-statistical prinicipal, that, in effect, states:











    THERE'S A SUCKER BORN EVERY MINUTE!
