    Default Saving Slurry

Something I recommend doing is saving the slurry created while lapping your stones (the ones that work best with slurry or course). I read a post awhile back that spoke of this and I thought it was a great way to preserve unnecessary wear on finisher stones especially.

This is slurry salvaged from lapping a Coticule I bought today at a flea market. It was laying in a cabinet underneath a sword of some type.

Yeah, I've got Escher slurry, Nakayama Asagi slurry, nagura slurry, coticule slurry, slate slurry, Nakayama Kiita slurry, Ikarashi slurry, and a few mystery slurries I never got around to labeling. I figure I migh as well make use of it rather than letting it go down the drain.

When finished honing I let the slurry dry on the hone. I have been toying with the idea of adding slurry to leather conditioner and apply it to a strop.

This is the first time I hear of this.

Makes kinda sense in a way, but at the same time not so much

How much wear do you really put to a stone when making slurry? Unless you use a diamond plate every time I don't believe it's even close to making an issue withing our lifetime

I have heard of doing this in the past, from what I read people liked it, but I have never taken the plunge myself, sometimes it seems people become "Fanboys" of a stone and regardless of the facts they say things work.. Basically making the "facts" fit the narrative.. I would think a J-nat slurry that was proved to be friable might be a good experiment for this

In my case, the hone was far from flat. After all that lapping I felt better saving the slurry. I don't plan on lapping this stone again for a long time and now I won't have to remove any surface either. My first time but it seems logical.
