Thanked: 0First Razor Honed - Feels oh so sweet!
After watching a few videos online (in particular gssixguns youtube channel), i felt confident enough to take an auction find dubl duck dwarf and put it on the stones. The blade had a couple of very tiny nicks in it, so i took what i learned and went to the 1200 and after a couple of attempts i was able to set a nice bevel, then i went to work on the 8000 side of the stones and and finally i finished on a 12k Chinese stone. Finally i took it to a pasted balsa strop a few laps, and it passed the hanging hair test with flying colors. Last test, and a little nervous (even brought a back up in with me in case this didn't shave) and put blade to face. The result, BEST SHAVE EVER! I was so excited about a job well done, i couldn't stop telling my Girlfriend how awesome it felt (she couldn't have cared less)
Now i am confident to take on the other razors i have that need attention to be brought back into fine shaving form!

It's a great feeling to hone your own! Congrats!
The older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.

Congratulations, Brosh!
It is such a sense of wonderous achievement when you get it right. Imagine the daunting task we'd face not being offered the learned wisdom of other wet shavers here on SRP. I wouldn't have been nearly as confident my first time. But armed with knowledge and monkey see monkey doo attitude and the tools, diligent attention to form and patience, and even a novice can show basic aptitude.
<-This is how I feel after success. I suspect you are feeling the same way.
Regards
