I finally got the pictures up. I'm thinking its either a half hollow or possibly a quarter. I don't know for sure but I don't have 2 full hollows and both are 5/8. I know the grind isn't as deep and the blade is a lot heaver and noticeably wider. That may be why I am having trouble getting it honed.

the heavier the grind the more steel that needs to be removed to set the bevel. If all thing s are equal it will always take much much longer.

Indeed! I've gotten it to where it'll cut hanging hair. I'm stillwworking with the 8k and I really like the results. I have a 12 Chinese finishing stone in transit. By the time it gets here I'll be ready for it. I think after the 12k and some. 5 chromium oxide its going to be an amazing shaver. I'm currently using a full hollow 5/8 simmons hrdware barbers pet and I really like it but I think the weight of this one is going to have me hooked. That's my only complaint about my daily shaver right now.

Lap the Norton on 220 and 320 wet & Dry on a cookie sheet and flat cement garage floor.

Here is a very nice 8X3 diamond plate for 13.80 with free shipping. It is a thin plate but works well, I have use it to almost set a bevel then finish on 3um film and finish on 1um.

You can easily set the bevel on the 1k and finish on the 4/8 Norton.

I have the Norton lapping stone and was not happy with the flatness or the finish it left on my 4K/8K. Wet dry paper on granite up to from 320 to 2K grit is what I use to get the 4K/8K flat and smooth. Now I do touch ups with a hard arkansas.
