weirdness
Gents, by 1:30 this afternoon, the sky's had turned green and by 2, the rains were blowing sideways. The hail came with a chorus of thunder followed by the lightning and ultimately, the complete loss of TV and internet!
It was a freaking 70s flashback!! And what did we do back then when we had nothing to do? Played with our stuff.
So it didn't take long before I thought perhaps I would freashen up a blade that was just meh.
It needed more than a finisher, but not much. I lapped my PHIG with my coti to get a little coti slurry going on, and off I went. I watered it down as i went till the stone was void of any slurry.
I wasn't expecting anything really. Just having fun with my stuff 70s style lol, but dang!! It seemingly worked! And well! Heck! I am embarrassed to say this but, I shaved a large swath of my leg hair off just watching in awe lol.
Anyway - I can't do the ultimate test as I be clean shaven. But any of you guys ever raise another stones slurry on another stone?? It was a fun experience. I let you know how it goes (maybe tomorrow).David

Thanked: 177I have never messed with synthetics this way, who knows? I say don't discount anything unless you tried it. Doesn't mean you should try everything, but I something feels like its got you scratching your head, GO for it. Just let us know how it turns out. LOL

I think many of us will lap our Norton or Chosera 1k with a DMT or other diamond hone, leave the slurry, and set bevels very quickly that way, gradually diluting as with other slurry systems. Come to think about it, I enjoy tinkering around with slurries on other stones, too, though not in any systematic way. They definitely speed things up!
