onimaru55 staying on point: razor was in amazing shape...the steel anyway. The pivot pin could not be tightened but it does center. No one plays with razor except me. So logic says that the crumbling occurred before the last shave and I did not notice it (is that possible?) or during the last shave (is that possible not to notice?).
Let's be objective here (for a minute, anyway) - this thread ceased to have much importance after post no.27
The facts are:
1. The razor shaved fine when honed with the 12k hone as the final finisher.
2. The chipping occurred after the 20k hone was used as final finisher.
Inference: the 20k hone refines the steel alloy this razor is made from a bit too much.
Solution: remove chipping and re-hone to 12k.
Not much more to be said, is there?
Regards,
Neil
It ain't over till WE say it is! :deal
It's not over till you hone it up, strop, shave, inspect, and report back! How are we to learn otherwise?
meanwhile, we shall entertain! Get a move on before we get banned! :D
