    Default How Many kinds of red pastes?

    Hello All....

    How many kind of red pastes are?

    DOVO Red Paste - Supposed to be 2-4 microns

    Dremel Red Paste - ???

    Solingen Red Paste - ????

    Probably dozens, depending on the application. The Dremel paste is used for cleaning and polishing. I am not sure how it would perform as a sharpening abrasive. If I were you, I'd be shopping for application and grit.

    I agree. Are you looking to do something in particular with this paste? Or do you just want to know?

    There's a piece either here or at the old Yahoo SRP in the files section, I guess Green is coarse, Red is a little less coarse, and Black is fine, supposedly having very little more than polishing effect, and yellow is just fat, for treating plain leather....the same file also says not to use any of the abrasive pastes (the yellow one is ok as it is not abrasive) so of course, YMMV.

    I think the color can't define the grit, because green paste from dovo is about 2-4 microns, but the Chromium Oxide (green paste too) is about 0.5 micron.....

    The files are referring to the Dovo/Solingen paste;
    Has nothing to do with the Chrome Oxide paste a lot of folks use, so I guess in that sense you're right, and color has little to do with it.
