Default Master Honer in South East Michigan??

Hello everyone, Is there a Master Honer in the Ann Arbor Michigan area??

I need my razor to be sharpened correctly the first time.

    Thanks in advance.

    apple,
Maggard Razors is down in Adrian (about 45 minutes from Ann Arbor). How bad are the blades? Are we talking chips or just a refresh?

Maggard is very highly regarded. And what institution or organization grants the title "Master Honer".

There are no 'master' honers, as there is noone to bestow the title, and no requirements for it, even if there were. There are many people calling themselves (or others) Master, Meister, or whatever. Yet that can be as much the result of marketing skills as of actual skill, and there are people being called master who could not put a good edge on a difficult razor if their lives depended on it.

So asking for a 'master' is not going to make a practical difference. The best way is usually to be around for a while and learn who is who.

It's a brand new DOVO. It's never been sharpened other then at the factory. I live in Manchester which is about 20 minutes from his shop. I shave with Feather RG/DX/SS replaceable blade razors. I also have used most of my life Gillette Fatboys. I hate with total disgust multi-blade razors. I tried to practice on cheap straights. I can make then sharp. But not even close for a smooth shave. I think I got them almost sharp enough to chop through soft butter. Almost. I used the term Master Honer. I just guessed there are such people. But I have been corrected. Everyone here seems to think this is the place for me. So, I'll go there. Thank you all very much for your lessons and advice.

email Brad or Casie before showing up. He normally has a backlog on restorations and honing. Giving them an email beforehand might give them a chance when to come in so you don't have to wait. They are great people there.
