    Default Check my Bevel!

    Hey all,

I am lacking in the hones department; I have 1 x 220/~600 grit combo, 1 x Aloxite Razor Hone (~5000 grit I think) and 1x Escher (could be a green or yellow, not sure)

The stone is the grey-ish one... The black stone in the pic is the slurry stone

Anyway, I sharpened up a Bengall yesterday from scratch, set the Bevel and so forth.

It seemed to shave rather well but I really would like to have at least 2 more stones and something to replace the combo stone (maybe 400/1000) in that mix, another lower grit (~2000) and a higher grit (~8000)

But I was hoping you could give some advice on the bevel. I was gifted a large set or razors and the bevels are 2 times larger than the one I set.

Now the Bengall had no spine wear at all and the Bevel is about 1.5mm wide (~1/16"). Is that too small? Should it be larger?

    Here is a pic.

    Bevel is on bottom edge.

    Thanks all.
