    Question Lapping Naniwa SS 12000

So I've been shaving with a straight from whipped dog for a while and during this time I've accumulated a few pieces in need of some love. I just plan on keeping up my personal razors and maybe the occasional rehab i come across but nothing major on a steady basis. I plan on getting the norton combo set, 220/1000 and 4000/8000 stones with lapping stone. I also want to get a Naniwa SS 12000 for polishing. Given that this is my first foray into honing I am wondering if the norton lapping stone will be good to go to lap the Naniwa 12000 with?

    Thanks ,

Welcome to the forum. I expect you will get several answers as quite a bit of wet shaving is
personally subjective. I would not use a norton lapper on a naniwa 12k. In fact I do not use a norton lapping stone on my 4/8k norton stone. I much prefer a 325k DMT for lapping all of the stones you have mentioned. I would also recommend a chosera 1k in lieu of the norton
    220/1k.

The Norton honing brick are the worst thing you can do to a hone get a DMT. Any hone will be worse after a Norton lapping brick.

That's the one you need. Amend that, they are both useful and owned by many SRP members.

Those Norton lapping bricks have the consistency of a cinder block The DMT 325 is the way to go, be sure to run a screwdriver body across the new DMT to remove all the loose and protruding diamonds before your first lapping session.

What tarkus said drake. The naniwa 12k is a sweet hone.
