Escher stone colors from another thread. Black to green, hard to soft.

    Yes, yellow/green.

Top is a new Hunsrueck, next a vintage NOS grey Thuringen, a vintage NOS blue/grey Thuringen, a vintage Fox green/yellow and a vintage NOS green/yellow Thuringen.

Thuringen is refering to where they were quaried, Escher, Fox, Boker, Droescher, etc.... as to who's brand name was applied.

I'll see if I can gather enough Coticule variations to post a similar photo later this week.

    Tony,

I'll very gladly take the small one - trade, cash, (Lou will love this) WHATEVER

Seriously, PM / e-mail me if there is any chance of this happening. I have come to love my small narrow Escher (currently my only, but also getting a Celebrated) lately and this one will be a great addition

    Cheers

    Ivo,
That little one was spoken for a while back. I am working on getting a few more as there is some quarry stock not yet sawn. It will only yield very small stones such as these though, not the usualy razor sized ones.

A large green/yellow Escher next to a Norton 8" x 3" for comparison. Taken in low light at dusk so the colours are not quite right. I threw one of my blue/grey slurry stones in the box to try and highlight the difference between the yellow/green and the lesser stones.

Just wondering, if a Escher was used in conjunction with a pasted strop (say 1 and .5 micron) where would it fit into the sequence? would the Escher be used before or after the 1 micron?

    Thanks

I only use CrO2 and I would use Escher before it.

Beautiful stone and box! Funny to read the different instructions on the box and even the spelling is different! On yours the German word for genuine is spelled "echt" on my box the same word is spelled "ächt".

I have never seen "ächt" spelled like this so it might be old-fashioned spelling. Maybe someone with a more profound knowledge of German could clarify this?
