Thread: Need some straights honed in San diego

I'm in north county san diego and need 2 straights honed...can anyone local help?

Zfan4life I am in San Diego but unfortunately I just got my first hones (today) and I would not be comfortable with honing or teaching as I am just starting. If you PM me I can tell you who I use. Its like a 3 day turn around and you will never get a sharper/More useable razor (not in San Dog). Also Avenolpey (member name) is in the area so you might want to ask him who he uses or if he has a local guy.

Yea...that may be what I do...but I would like to see someone local so.i can look how they do it and learn

Before taking the plunge, have you had much time shaving? Truly you should learn to shave then hone. If you need to send your razor out a time or two until you get a grip on shaving. Hopefully by that time there will be a meet up that you can attend. I'm pretty sure that 10pups has regular mini meets with three to five people there. When you do take the plunge I recommend you use quality, inexpensive razors, without geometry issue that you know will take an edge. There are good razors that go through here regularly in the $30-50 that would work just fine, and most of those start shave ready, giving you a working razor in the meantime.
