Thanked: 3222Had a similar problem but I hone at the dining room table and have no eat in kitchen. Came up with a slightly different solution. Everything fits into the Plastic box except the spray bottle. Stores conveniently in a cupboard off to the side of the dining room table. One drawback though is that it is really inconvenient to use to bring SWMBO breakfast in bed with. Yea, ya gots to keep em happy, eh.

Thanked: 4822My wife's big complaint is not the stuff for honing, because that is not a constant activity for me. Lapping hones on the other hand is. I put everything in a wooden box and put it on a dining room chair and slide it under the table. Out of sight and out of mind, until we get company.
The only catch is remembering to wash the kitchen sink. It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Got no wife, no stress and strife ....... I hone at the kitchen counter if front of the sink. Convenience of water easily accessible.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Good to see that I'm not alone in this...
My wife has been complaining about my stones all over the house, so I had to come up with some sort of plan.
Here's what I ended up with.
It is a small tranchér-table that has some small wheels at the bottom.
This way I can have my most used stones ready in a few seconds, and much more importantly, get them into a safe place equally fast.
As my wife is a tailor by education, she has a work-station of sorts in one corner of the living room.
I just set my bucket, bridge and stoneholder on that when I wanna do some honing.
Easy to clean up, and the Mrs. are much happier. Those two things are strangely related somehow...

Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

The number of stones I have is a problem for me. I've got maybe a dozen or fifteen. That's too many, since I feel the obligation to use them all at some point, even though some seem definitely preferable to others. But I figure if I get some more, that will solve the problem.

For those who pack away their hones, a cheap safety net padding for them is Sill Seal foam plastic.
Way better than bubble wrap of any style.
It will accept more than one hit and is impervious to water or other such stuff.
Available at most lumber or home maintenance stores. for very cheap. and I use it for wrapping the stones and any breakables I send through the mails.
