    Let's get technical lol

    A horizontal wave with a varied degree of loss in the vertical plane depending on the length of surface. Followed by a reversed inverted wave from the opposing surface back to the original zero position.

    Or maybe just a rolling X stroke.... lmao

    Yeah I tilted at that windmill some time ago, I agree, not only that it isn't descriptive of the motion, but it actually gives a misconception of the movement to a beginner..

    If you think of a smiling edge and spine as two lines on a large diameter and very squat truncated cone, your kind of turning (rolling) the cone on its axis as it moves down the hone.
