Thanked: 26First self hone
Hi,
Just thought i would share this and pass on a thanks to all.
For about 2 weeks now i have been shaving with a razor that i bought which was received truly shave ready. Over those weeks i have also been acquiring the means to hone my own razors when needed. As i felt i needed to find out what a shave would be like with a razor honed by my own hand i got on ebay and won an auction for a restored Kropp razor requiring honing.
So after receiving the razor yesterday, i put my plan into action. I set the bevel on a 1k/4k norton, moved on to the 4k side followed by welsh dragons tongue slate and then lyyn melynllyn slate, and finished with newspaper strop and leather strop.
I just had my first shave with this razor and i have to say im very happy, the shave was super smooth, even smoother than the razor i purchased pre honed
so i would like to thank everyone here for any advice i have received, thanks to Cudarunner for informing me about newspaper as an abrasive and thanks to Lynn for all the great instructional videos, you guys have all helped me achieve self sustainabilty.
thanks
stev

This is where it all starts... check your bank account and raise the limits on your credit cards - you'll be buying razors and hones like mad...
