Sure sounds like the OP has been having these issues a lot, never fear like was said earlier after a couple hundred razors you probably won't have this problem, as your new , maybe concentrate on the shave and stropping and let someone else fix this issue for you, you don't need to be on the hones every 2 months. Thanked: 1This seems like a strange solution to the problem but it has helped me a few times, switch hands for a few strokes. I've probably only sharpened 15 razors, but I start with Ebay specials, restore the blade, make custom scales, then sharpen them, but by no means am I anywhere near a pro at honing. Sometimes when i get "in the zone" while honing some of my bad habits start showing through and I never notice them, hence uneven sharpness. The one thing i do to mitigate this is to mark the edge with a marker, do some one stroke with my right hand, make note of where I wore the ink off. Then i remark the blade and do a stroke with my left hand. I am terrible with doing anything left handed ( cant even pick my nose with my left hand) so i use my right index finger to stabilize the blade on the hone. Often i find that the left handed stroke removes the ink more evenly than the initial right handed stroke. This tells me i need to pay special attention to EXACTLY what my right hand is doing and why the stroke is uneven. Like I said I'm new to this, and absolutely not a pro, but switching hands has let me "catch" myself slipping up a few times.
