Default Proud Day In Honing History

Ok, maybe not in honing history, but MY honing history. I've only honed maybe a dozen of my razors. This weekend I picked up this Wostenholm pipe razor. It's just shy of 6/8. It was a bit ugly but not bad. I did a clean up of the razor, but wouldn't call it a resto. Then I honed it up. I used a Naniwa Pro 1k to set the bevel, Norton 4k/8K to refine the bevel and a Naniwa 12k to finish. It came out beautiful, and a great shave. But with my inexperience I knew with the sway back and big smile it was going to be a challenge. But it wasn't until I got into it that I discovered the blade was slightly bent evidenced by the rock in the blade. The spine is straight by the way. So not only was there a smile to deal with but bent blade also. It took some creative strokes, but I'm proud of the outcome!

    Congrats!
    Next time, set the bevel!

I'm confused, do my junk photos make it look like the bevel isn't set?

Good job on figuring out what the razor wanted!

Nice find on the razor also!

Your shave will tell you whether or not the bevel is set; but according to your first post, you set the "bezel!"

Good feeling ain't it .......... I haven't seen a smiling Wosty pipe before. That is a cool razor to boot .
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Haha, thanks for the heads up on that, I corrected it! In addition to straight razors, I'm also into old vintage watches which have bezels..... I'm just a sucker for old things that work as good today as they did on the day they were made so long ago.

Thanks, I searched and searched SRP trying to find info on it's age and didn't see anything like it. Some with the same etching on the blade but none had the barber's notch.
