Thanked: 0Thanks to gssixgun!!
I just want to give a sincere and huge thanks to Glen for taking the time to show me the ins and outs of honing two weeks ago. He came into town in a very snowy Sandpoint, Idaho to show me how to hone and I appreciate it tremendously. He showed me in person the form of honing on his and my stones, which is especially important because I had gotten bad advice on my form. He gave some very helpful hints as far as slurries on my stones, and angles for pushing the blade. He took my dull-witted questions with patience and was incredibly helpful in his answers. In addition, he showed me how to properly strop, an activity I needed to be properly shown as I had been, again, shown a bad technique. Most importantly, I want to thank him for showing me IN PERSON how to hone and care for my razor. It is one thing to direct me to videos, but he, instead, instructed me in person. This, I believe, is more important than anything. Again, thanks Glen.

He and his videos have helped many of us. Someday I hope to meet him and get some "up close" tips!
Just call me Harold

That is so awesome of him to help you. I too have seen a lot of his videos and I am learning a lot by watching them. But in person it is a different situation all together. I wish there was someone close by to me to show me what I am doing correctly and to give me hints on what to do and what not to do. Maybe a straight razor honing school should be opened up? (maybe there is one already?)... I'd sign up!
We all start out as a "grasshopper", but takes a long time to become a Master.....

I'm Jealous...
He's a great guy and always hones my razors to perfection.
You're lucky to enjoy his expertise and experience.
If I lived in the local area I assume he'd end up having to adopt me (probably not by his choice)... as I'd be there so oftenIt's nice to be important, but more important to be nice

As always Glen is the most helpful of individuals I can personally vouch for this.

The older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.

That's awesome, Rick. You were welcomed with a unique opportunity.
I'm curious about your above statement, because I read your threads and saw solid advice by many respected SRP members. It got me to thinking that you may have gotten "bad advice on your form" elsewhere? Or did you mean "forum" not "form"
Glad you're on the right track now, thoughLast edited by Siguy; 01-15-2015 at 07:08 PM. Reason: grammar
