Thanked: 0Need to get a razor honed. Where to go North Dallas area
I saw a thread on here regarding the same question from quite a few years ago so I thought I would pose it again. I am new to straight razors and just bought one lightly used but it needs to be honed and I cannot fins anyone or place in the DFW area that provides this service. Any advice on where I should take it or send it? Thanks for any advice!
Joe

Thanked: 3795Look in the member services section of the Classifieds.
Also, check out the Get Togethers and Meetings section as there is going to be a north Texas meetup on the weekend of Feb 14/15. This will be your best opportunity to get a crash course in honing.

Check out Straight Razor Designs, Gemstar Customs, or anyone, as Utopian mentions in the classifieds here under services, and you'll get a great edge for $30 or less.

I get a chance to give a little back
So I am in no way a Mentor is the class of many of the members here - who's generous support has helped me master and enjoy this skill.
But I'm thankful that jnygard04 lives and works just a few minutes away and I could be of some small help.
We were able to connect so I could pick up his razor and I could give him a couple of razors to try and a lump of Cella Sapone to try out.
And last night we were able to connect, spend a little time with background and questions and get Joe his razor back.
He is making great progress on his own - like myself and I think many of us, learning how little pressure it takes to strop is all part of the learning curve.
