Thanked: 5First "Refresh": Holy Cow!
Today I shaved with a the first razor I've refreshed the hone on after the initial hone. I found the Jones Mfgr Co of Chicago as a rusty butter knife an it was my first hone back in October. It was getting a little tuggy, so I did a quick few turn on The Norton 8000, the a little on the Chinese finisher. A customary strop and Wow! What a great shave! Best $10 I've spent in a long time!

That's a nice feeling isn't it? Congrats
What a curse be a dull razor; what a prideful comfort a sharp one

Thanked: 3795Did you refresh the razor or the hone?
Either way, congrats! It feels great to hone your own and feel the result in your shave.

Thanked: 5Utopian, I did flatten my 8000 Norton and the Chinese stone, but touched up the steel. Recognizing I could do this for the rest of my natural life and spend no more $ on steel was pretty awesome!

Thanked: 3795Got it. The first sentence of your first post made me not certain. Yes it does feel good to have that sense of accomplishment and self sufficiency. Now go out and kill something for dinner and make a jacket from its hide!

That's my usual refresh also: the Guangxi finisher, and going back to the Norton 8k when necessary. Feels great! Congratulations.
Keep your pivot dry!
