Hiya, I have them and have added honing oil to the last in the progression (the grey). It seems to work well however I have only been honing for the past two years and have not done too many. I just wet the stone and not the razor but clean the blade off with tissue to check it. If you are happy with the results then that is all that matters. I really enjoy mine and find that they bring a bit more after the 8K Norton.
A good lather is half the shave.

Progression is naniwa pro 1000. 3000. Bbw. Coticule. Purple aj. Grey/blue aj. Slates both with slurry and shaving soap in water. Finding this works quite well. My coticule is too fast and coarse I find as a finisher and these slates add some very nice smoothness to the edge. Cheers for chiming in guys. Will see bout some honing solution at some point to improve even more. Also tempted to try oil. Would ballistol or similar work?

AJ once recommended something called GT 85, which appears to be a country cousin to WD 40 and its ilk. I have never tried it. Had a Welsh slate once. Decent rock. I prefer others though.
