Where is situa you have like 3 different finishers that you are going through. If you were to say just use the coticule and maximize it then I believe your edges would satisfy you a little bit better. Probably what I would do is do the 1000, 3000 and then go to the coticule with slurry. Then finish on plain water.
For me it's kind of like once you are on a finisher it's finished. So there's no need to have 3 different finishers. I'm not saying to get rid of anything just you don't need all of them for every razor. Let them be other options. I like barbecue and I like ice cream but they don't go good together not on the same plate. Or perhaps a 1k, 3k, bbw, coti.
What I meant about what you are missing is your missing the edge. It wasn't ready before you moved on to the next stone. That could have been as far back as the bevel which is very likely that you missed it and if you missed it then nothing else is really going to hit right. So you keep piling on stones trying to fix something when it may just need a little more time at a previous stone.
And 8000 great stone may prove to be very beneficial for you. 1 / 3 / 8 / any of these 1 finishers that you have. But only 1. Yes that puts the b_b_w kind of on the back burner for now. Some people do use them for finishers some use as finisher some use a pre finisher.
