Pencil grid the stone and lap it flat twice, spinning the stone 180 degrees. Put a layer of tape on the spine, ink the bevel and do a set of 20 circles on the 4k.

Now look at the edge, straight down and from the side. Look to see how far the bevels are from meeting and if the bevels are getting flat.
GD’s are notorious for stabilizers being too long and keeping the heel off the stone. If so, they will have to be ground with a diamond file/plate or Dremel with a fine grit drum.

Each of these razors have their own issues that need correcting and addressed before you can hone properly.

You can use the diamond plate with 2 layers of tape on the spine to get the bevels flat, but not meeting. If you get the bevels to meet with a low grit diamond plate, you may experience chipping at finish. So get the bevels close, then get them to meet with the 4K.

They can be honed, but the problem for most novice honers is the ability to diagnose issues, then correct them.

The “reproduction”… who knows, most of those types of “razors”, will not hold an edge…
