    I don't even own a 4/8k I do all my honing on the coticule and it's just fine. But working with the Norton might mke it a lot faster.

    Well, wedges are supposed to take a fairly long time to hone because you have a lot more metal to remove. Fortunately I've never had to hone one, but I sure wouldn't mind adding one to my collection. But it still sounds like your razor isn't quite sharp enough. You might want to do the thumbnail test to make sure you've got a good edge on it.

    Thanks for all of the help thus far. I put away the wedge and got out a hollow ground blade (see newbies forum). The wedge did finaly get sharp but had a couple of small chips in the edge I will have to spend a lot of time with the 4K or get a 1K. LX I can't imagine honing an old dull razor on a coticule. I would run short on patients.
