Thanked: 458That is what I think, too. If the stone is fine, then no problem, just maybe not with that nagura.
I don't have any asano stamped nagura and don't know what they are like. I think soft nagura are nice, but soft and small particles is sometimes hard to find. In my unstamped naguras, the hardness of them is all over the place, some are very hard and only shed their particles to a very hard stone.

Thanked: 0Thanks for all replies! Evaluating the shaving edge seems like a resonable approach Its been a while since i used the stone for a complete hone session. I'll do that and report the results.

Thanked: 246Definitely the base stone is giving up more slurry than the nagura in this case. This is almost certainly because the nagura is harder than the base stone. As already noted, this definitely does not mean the stone isn't suitable for razor use. Just means you need to use a softer nagura or even maybe try a slurry raised with a diamond plate.
I have a couple asano stamped nagura - a mejiro and a koma. The koma is hard as heck and I have only one or two JNats that it's usable with unless I only want base stone slurry.
